The navigation bar at the top of each course is standardized to probide a consistent experience for students. You can remove some of the tools from the toolbar if you will not be using them, however.
Course Settings
To modify the visibility of course tools, click the Course Settings icon in the upper right corner of a course that you are teaching.
Tools You Can Change
- Mastery Gradebook - if you will be using the Goals and Alignments feature to align content with student learning outcomes, you can enable the Mastery tab in the Gradebook for you or your students to view
- Progress Tracking - if you want to hide the Progress Tracking icons for students and the tracking analytics from yourself, you can click the toggle to disable Progress Tracking
Tools You Cannot Change
- Class Roster - at NIU, you cannot disable the Class Roster in a course. This is considered a best practice to promote community among students
- Messages - at NIU, you cannot disable Messages in a course. This is intended to create a consistent experience where students can always contact the faculty member teaching the course
Both the Roster and Messages can be disabled in Organizations.
At this time, there are no other controls available in Blackboard to enable or disable tools on the top navigation or in the Details & Actions panel.
