Customizing Your Blackboard Course

Blackboard courses offer limited customizations to provide students with a consistent experience across courses. There are still a number of ways that you can customize your course, however, to reflect your teaching style and content.

Course Banner

Banners and course cards can be a great way to personalize or add flair to your Blackboard course. They can also help you and your students easily differentiate one course from another. The same image is used as both your course card and your course banner, which creates a visual brand for your course.

Thumbnails for Learning Modules

Learning Module is a logical, structured group of course content, similar in concept to a chapter in a textbook, and may be composed of several sections and/or activities. The thumbnail provides visual interest to the course and helps students identify the contents of the module.

Your Profile

Your profile in Blackboard lets you add a profile photo, adjust your notification settings, and add your name pronunciation. Once you have added a profile photo, it will be visible throughout Blackboard, such as at the top of your course outline or when you post to a Discussion Board. This will help your students connect with you and feel supported.
